The appropriately named New Year’s Eve is the story of several couples who’s lives come together on New Year’s Eve. With names like Robert De Niro, Aston Kutcher, Sara Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel this is one movie that is not to be missed.
New Year’s Eve has paired some of the most outrageous and unusual couples together which is sure to make the chemistry between each character much more interesting. Jon Bon Jovi and Katherine Heigl seem to have an interesting relationship demonstrated when Heigl slaps Bon Jovi after “planning it for years”.
Zac Efron’s partnership with Michelle Pfeiffer seems to be one that is truly unexpected and leaves many wanting to know if it will last. I for one am doubtful of the sustainability of this cradle robbing affair. But that doesn’t mean that others aren’t rooting for this controversial couple! If anything this will be an ingenious look at a couple attempting to break out of their contrasting generational stereotypes in order to make it work.
The trailer teases Jessica Biel announcing that her water broke to a very excited Seth Myers. The couple rushes to the hospital in hopes of having the first child born in 2012 (and the cash prize that is being given out to the parents of the first child born in the new year).
Aston Kutcher plays a slightly antisocial character dating Lea Michele who has a lively Type A personality. She is seen at the beginning of the trailer telling Kutcher, “Oh c’mon we’ve gotta do something to get you out of your new year’s eve funk”.
While the trailer explained a lot it has still left us in the dark on quite a few things. It was a bit of a shock to that Robert De Niro was nowhere to be seen in the trailer. Could they possibly be using such talent for a secondary character? I think I speak for most Robert De Niro fans when I say that I hope his talent is put to good use. IMBD reports his character as “Dying man in hospital” which leaves a chance that his character is a fundamental part of the story purposely left out of the trailer. Until his part in the story is confirmed we’ll just have to use our imagination.
Don’t forget to go see New Year’s Eve when it comes out on December 9, 2011.

What just happened ?
(My Personal opinion)
Well, what just happened ? that's all I can say. When I heard the blurb for this movie I got all excited, a movie about high powered hollywood movie producer starring Robert De Niro and a comedy to boot.
After watching Robert De Niro in his other comedy roles I'd say that he can definately do comedy but unfortunately from a comedic point of view this movie fails somewhat.
Robert De Niro has hit the spot in his past comedy efforts such as Analyze This and Meet the Fockers but in this movie he fails.
Now don't get me wrong I didn't hate the movie but its more the case that it didn't neccessarily work the way that it should have. The story is simple it's a movie about a hollywood actor struggling to make a movie, cue loads of comedy moments, yes ?
Ermm, no. Thats the problem, where are the comedy moments , its ok, midly entertaining, somewhat amusing in places, but wheres the comedy ?
After past success you would have thought that Robert De Niro would have comedy down to a tee by now but it's not the case with this movie.
Unfortunately De Niro doesn't really shine in this movie as he has done in some of his other roles, his acting is best described as adequete and he is let down by a lack lustre script.
So what promises to be a hilarious comedy about a movie producer trying to get his movie made and the madness that ensues along the way turns out to be a bit of a mess which is at it's best watchable and at worst annoyingly unfunny.
It's a shame because I really wanted to like this movie, it has one of my favourite actors in the lead role, the premise of the story looked good and it should have been the ideal vehicle for some hilarious comic moments so "what just happened?" where did it go wrong ?
Well I think it's shortcomings are a combination of things, one being a poor script. I mean there are a fair few scenes which start out promising where you find yourself waiting for the laughs to come but then all of a sudden the scenes is over and you realise that the laughs just aren't coming. This add's to the frustration of watching such a movie and in the end it makes the movie seem a lot longer than what it actually is.
So that's it really What just Happened? is the kind of movie you really want to like but once you've watched it you'll think that your time could have been a lot better spent doing something else.

RIGHTEOUS KILL
By Tanisha Bunch
Since Godfather II, the reunion of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino has been a long awaited and highly anticipated event. With these two tough guys on the same screen get ready for a thriller that is bursting with action in every scene. There is hardly room for all of their talent in one movie, and these boys are not shy conveying that while they try to show each other up time after time in Righteous Kill.
This is definitely one of Jon Avnet’s movies that you have to sit down and pay attention to. If you miss a moment you could be lost, but do not let that deter you. Righteous Kill is a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of you seat, as well as have your mind on the edge reason. It will leaving you questioning what is right and wrong.
On one hand you have a serial killer murdering people in cold blood- an evident example of wrong. On the other hand however, you have a person who is killing the scum bag rapists and murderers that the justice system failed to prosecute- something that a lot of people would view as vigilant.
This movie leaves you torn. It gives you good reason to question your own beliefs on how you feel about what justice really is, and how far you would go to make sure that it gets served.
Turk (Robert De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) are two of NYPD’s finest, and not completely on the ‘up and up’. They will do what it takes to get the job done, so do not ask them to get the job done if you cannot take what they do. Spider (50 Cent) is a drug dealer that falls victim to some of their ‘special tactics’, and the drama is just beginning.
After a while, the odds begin to stack against them. More and more evidence starts to leave the unscrupulous pair seemingly suspect in a series of murders. The fact that the murder victims are criminals and are left with a poem justifying their executions speaks to the M.O. of the two cops that have become the number one suspects.
Fasten your seatbelts for this wild ride, because Righteous Kill has more buried twists and turns than just a few. You never know what is around the corner and the all star cast does not stop at Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
Officer Perez (John Leguizamo) is one of the first cops to start suspecting Turk and Rooster, and the list goes on. Turk’s love interest, and ‘freaky lover’, who loves for him to role play like he is a criminal, is forensic detective Corelli (Carla Gugino). With this eruptive cast it is only a matter of time before the clock strikes and the boiling point is at hand.
If you like to be in the detective seat, Righteous Kills puts you right there. Follow along step by step as they mysteries unfold and the truth is told. Do not think that you have the story all figured out too soon though, because Avent loves to play with our heads, and that it just what he has done in Righteous Kill.
