Being Flynn (2012)

Being Flynn (2012)

Being Flynn

With the current Hollywood movie lineup of remakes and tired movie plot, audiences are craving for something larger-than-life or sensibly great to watch. Hopefully this epic movie that will be coming to theaters near you is the heart wrenching movie, Being Flynn will be the one. It is starred by the great movie icon Robert De Niro arguably one of the most successful actors in Hollywood today, as he portrays Jonathan a father and also an eccentric struggling writer. This movie will show the trials and tribulations of life and give to the meaning that we are all works in progress. It is a one life story that will tackle the intricacies of being an artistic human being and coping with the daily struggles in life. The movie is touted to be a family drama- comedy and with Paul Weitz as the director this would be definitely a must see movie.
The trailer shows a great deal of sad emotion that will captivate the audience who loves a good drama. Backed by a great background soundtrack, it sets the mood of the film. It will be a great thing to watch on how two great actors, De Niro and Dano, can work together and make one great movie. As always, De Niro looks fantastic and Dano plays a strong character which is great should I say. The trailer should have shown more on Juliann Moore so that it could give hindsight on what extent is her role in the movie.
Seeing the trailer somehow just shows the drama side of the movie and never at all shows the comedy part that the director/ screenplay Paul Weitz is popular for. But with the great acting of Robert De Niro, we might be shocked on how this movie will turn out to be.
We all know that sometimes the trailer does not entirely depict the tone of the movie but somehow it gives us the idea the mood of the movie. Based on the trailer, I hope that the movie does not go way overboard in putting too much sentiment on the movie. The right sentiment would just be enough to have this thing working.
The plot of father and son has long been a great formula on Hollywood movies. It is a good tearjerker and hopefully Pal Weitz can capture the emotion of it.
The supporting casts that comprise Juliann Moore, Paul Dano, Olivia Thirlby and Dale Dicky are all superb actor/actresses that would give justice to the movie. Since this is based on a true story, this movie would tackle real life troubles and eliminate fairy tale mood of the story. Movies that are based on a true story have been generally a hit and miss. Hopefully with the right characters (great actors) it will bring success just like the previous movie, Moneyball, that starred Brad Pitt.
The movie is up for a spring 2012 release but the exact date has not yet been announced. This is based on the memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City by Nick Flynn.

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve
New Year’s Eve

The appropriately named New Year’s Eve is the story of several couples who’s lives come together on New Year’s Eve. With names like Robert De Niro, Aston Kutcher, Sara Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel this is one movie that is not to be missed.

New Year’s Eve has paired some of the most outrageous and unusual couples together which is sure to make the chemistry between each character much more interesting. Jon Bon Jovi and Katherine Heigl seem to have an interesting relationship demonstrated when Heigl slaps Bon Jovi after “planning it for years”.

Zac Efron’s partnership with Michelle Pfeiffer seems to be one that is truly unexpected and leaves many wanting to know if it will last. I for one am doubtful of the sustainability of this cradle robbing affair. But that doesn’t mean that others aren’t rooting for this controversial couple! If anything this will be an ingenious look at a couple attempting to break out of their contrasting generational stereotypes in order to make it work.

The trailer teases Jessica Biel announcing that her water broke to a very excited Seth Myers. The couple rushes to the hospital in hopes of having the first child born in 2012 (and the cash prize that is being given out to the parents of the first child born in the new year).

Aston Kutcher plays a slightly antisocial character dating Lea Michele who has a lively Type A personality. She is seen at the beginning of the trailer telling Kutcher, “Oh c’mon we’ve gotta do something to get you out of your new year’s eve funk”.

While the trailer explained a lot it has still left us in the dark on quite a few things. It was a bit of a shock to that Robert De Niro was nowhere to be seen in the trailer. Could they possibly be using such talent for a secondary character? I think I speak for most Robert De Niro fans when I say that I hope his talent is put to good use. IMBD reports his character as “Dying man in hospital” which leaves a chance that his character is a fundamental part of the story purposely left out of the trailer. Until his part in the story is confirmed we’ll just have to use our imagination.

Don’t forget to go see New Year’s Eve when it comes out on December 9, 2011.

The Killer Elite

The Killer Elite

The Killer Elite

Robert De Niro is preparing a new movie to its fans. And it is not an ordinary one, it’s an action movie that will be played together with Jason Statham and Clive Owen. Killer Elite is going to be a reference movie in this fall, a movie with Robert De Niro playing a mentor of a retired member of Britain's Elite Special Air Service. Jason Statham is the retired member and he will have to rescue De Niro from the arms of Clive Owen. The movie has a very beautiful storyline that is based on a true story, which is making the action more interesting. Together with the story of Killer Elite, an important thing will be the special effects that are transforming simple actions, like a punch, into fast, impressive and complicated actions. Jason Statham will have his moments of glory, as his fans want, he will be the guy who will win almost any fight but not easy and not predictable. He will have to pass through dangerous situations and he will have to improvise almost all the movies as his plans will always change. He is playing a retired member of an elite British’s force and he must show that he is still in shape, in order to rescue his mentor. The movie Killer Elite is starting with Clive Owen in a negative role this time, he is the one who wants something from Jason Statham but forgets that he is facing with a special elite member who will always improvise and win the battle. Managing to escape, Statham will have to come back and fight with Owen because his mentor, De Niro is being captured.Jumping through windows, driving cars with fast speed in the middle of a crowded town, running on top of the buildings, these are only a few things that must expect to see in this movie. Killer Elite is about killing and about doing that like an elite. People who love action movies will enjoy this one very much and will be connected to all the action of it.Robert De Niro is starting the movie as an old and inoffensive person but during the movie you will find out that he is more powerful and also very important. He is playing very well, hiding from the beginning his powers, but his fans will not be disappointed because will see the De Niro they know, smart and elegant, old but fast and with a very big and important fingerprint on the movie. For sure, Clive Owen will surprise the audience with the fact that he is playing an evil character and the look with the new moustache. He will be a bad person in the movie Killer Elite and is playing that very good, acting like a real bad person, with no turning backs and no mercy.Killer Elite movie will be for sure a reference in the action movies this year and not only, the actors are playing their characters real good and all you can expect from this movie is to like it and to see it nominalised to a lot of awards.

MANUAL OF LOVE 3 PREVIEW

By Tanisha Bunch

If you like Robert De Niro and romances, then you will love Manual of Love 3. It is a dramatic romance about facing incredible, life altering adventures that comes about against the intentions and better judgment of the characters. It is a story of love and all of it’s ups and downs, twists and turns, and side swipes.

At a first glance, Roberto (Riccardo Scamarcio) seems to have it all. He has a beautiful companion and wife to be, the perfect life, with the perfect job, and perfect a plan to live out the rest of his life in happiness and success with Sara (Valeria Solarino). He is a lawyer at the top of his game with a strong desire for achievement, but at the drop of a dime his life as he knows it completely changes. When in charge of taking a Tuscany property out of the owner’s hands, he meets a captivating young knockout named Micol (Laura Chiatti) that complicates his perfect plans. Thus the plot thickens. The love rollercoaster begins.

Meanwhile, we meet a household face and name, Fabio (Carlo Verdone), who is a news broadcaster that has been married for 25 long years, and has never one time wavered into adultery. All that is brought to a screeching halt however when Fabio finds his self sleeping with the sexy siren Eliana (Donatella Finocchiaro) that is not his wife. What was supposed to be a one night stands turns out to be a stand off when the siren Fabio met at the party decides she does not have to leave, and down right refuses to go. Fabio realizes this stalker/siren threatens to leave the life as he has known it for the last twenty five years in ruins by not leaving it at all. This transgression will surely end in divorce. Will he be able to stop the inevitable?

Finally the American sex symbol Robert De Niro enters in the picture. Before, Manual of Love and Manual of Love 2 was mostly only popular in Italy. It never made it over to the United States, but with Robert De Niro in the mix, Manual of Love 3 will definitely make the cross over. Do not underestimate this series because it was not huge in America though. It did not need to make it to the states to be a big deal. The Manual of Love series up to this point featured all the ‘somebodys’ of the Italian movie stars, and did not need the support of the states to be a smash. Italy loves to love, and it is no different now.

Out of all the wild and sexy scenes that go on in Manual of Love 3, Robert De Niro has to take the cake. His character’s love interest is Monica Bellucci! Yikes! Her occupation…believe it or not…she is a stripper! I am not making this up folks.

Robrt De Niro plays Adrian, an art history professor who recently divorced, and moved to Rome thinking that he had written the last chapter of his love life and closed the book once and for all. To no avail, his story is not even begun to be written. When Adrian befriends the concierge of the building Augusto (Michele Placido), he is charmed by his breathe taking daughter Viola who sends his world spinning into a story that will mesmerize even the deepest romantics leaving you in a whirlwind of awe!

Stone

Stone

Stone

There was a time not so extended ago when the combination of Ed Norton and Robert De Niro, two of the furthermost actors of our time, would have been greeted with massive enthusiasm. And yet the picture Stone, which was free this fall too little fanfare, barely made a bug. With the movie now out on DVD and Blue-Ray Print.
Stone is not a terrible movie. It's not even a bad film. But it's a monotonous movie that doesn't bring anything of real price. It's straight away forgettable and time after time underperforms from start to finish.
In Stone, Robert De Niro plays Jack Mabry, a parole officer who is assigned the container of convicted arsonist Gerald "Stone" Creeson. With Stone's parole inquiry imminent, the convict, in an attempt to persuade Mabry to a positive appraisal, has his wife seduce Jack. The decisions the three build have profound cost on their lives.
The picture had the potential to be enormous. Ed Norton has been at his most excellent when he's behind bars and De Niro - well, we all know what he's competent of. The movie is heading for by John Curran, who did the astonishingly good The Painted Veil and Junebug writer Angus MacLachlan.
And so far Stone is flat. Norton's performance seems forced, De Niro's indifferent. Only Jovovich seems to fully hold her role, which makes sense since she's in a movie with Ed Norton and Robert De Niro. Maybe she should sue.Roger Ebert is quote on the Blu-Ray cover, calling the film as psychological duel. Unluckily, the duel isn't much to fob watch. The movie goes off the deep end in the concluding act and features one of the least climactic climaxes in recent reminiscence. Is it hypothetical to be a thriller, or a drama? Not even the filmmakers know

What Just Happened ?

What Just Happened ?

What just happened ?

(My Personal opinion)

Well, what just happened ? that's all I can say. When I heard the blurb for this movie I got all excited, a movie about high powered hollywood movie producer starring Robert De Niro and a comedy to boot.

After watching Robert De Niro in his other comedy roles I'd say that he can definately do comedy but unfortunately from a comedic point of view this movie fails somewhat.

Robert De Niro has hit the spot in his past comedy efforts such as Analyze This and Meet the Fockers but in this movie he fails.

Now don't get me wrong I didn't hate the movie but its more the case that it didn't neccessarily work the way that it should have. The story is simple it's a movie about a hollywood actor struggling to make a movie, cue loads of comedy moments, yes ?

Ermm, no. Thats the problem, where are the comedy moments , its ok, midly entertaining, somewhat amusing in places, but wheres the comedy ?

After past success you would have thought that Robert De Niro would have comedy down to a tee by now but it's not the case with this movie.

Unfortunately De Niro doesn't really shine in this movie as he has done in some of his other roles, his acting is best described as adequete and he is let down by a lack lustre script.

So what promises to be a hilarious comedy about a movie producer trying to get his movie made and the madness that ensues along the way turns out to be a bit of a mess which is at it's best watchable and at worst annoyingly unfunny.

It's a shame because I really wanted to like this movie, it has one of my favourite actors in the lead role, the premise of the story looked good and it should have been the ideal vehicle for some hilarious comic moments so "what just happened?" where did it go wrong ?

Well I think it's shortcomings are a combination of things, one being a poor script. I mean there are a fair few scenes which start out promising where you find yourself waiting for the laughs to come but then all of a sudden the scenes is over and you realise that the laughs just aren't coming. This add's to the frustration of watching such a movie and in the end it makes the movie seem a lot longer than what it actually is.

So that's it really What just Happened? is the kind of movie you really want to like but once you've watched it you'll think that your time could have been a lot better spent doing something else.

Righteous Kill

Righteous Kill

RIGHTEOUS KILL

By Tanisha Bunch

Since Godfather II, the reunion of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino has been a long awaited and highly anticipated event. With these two tough guys on the same screen get ready for a thriller that is bursting with action in every scene. There is hardly room for all of their talent in one movie, and these boys are not shy conveying that while they try to show each other up time after time in Righteous Kill.

This is definitely one of Jon Avnet’s movies that you have to sit down and pay attention to. If you miss a moment you could be lost, but do not let that deter you. Righteous Kill is a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of you seat, as well as have your mind on the edge reason. It will leaving you questioning what is right and wrong.

On one hand you have a serial killer murdering people in cold blood- an evident example of wrong. On the other hand however, you have a person who is killing the scum bag rapists and murderers that the justice system failed to prosecute- something that a lot of people would view as vigilant.

This movie leaves you torn. It gives you good reason to question your own beliefs on how you feel about what justice really is, and how far you would go to make sure that it gets served.

Turk (Robert De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) are two of NYPD’s finest, and not completely on the ‘up and up’. They will do what it takes to get the job done, so do not ask them to get the job done if you cannot take what they do. Spider (50 Cent) is a drug dealer that falls victim to some of their ‘special tactics’, and the drama is just beginning.

After a while, the odds begin to stack against them. More and more evidence starts to leave the unscrupulous pair seemingly suspect in a series of murders. The fact that the murder victims are criminals and are left with a poem justifying their executions speaks to the M.O. of the two cops that have become the number one suspects.

Fasten your seatbelts for this wild ride, because Righteous Kill has more buried twists and turns than just a few. You never know what is around the corner and the all star cast does not stop at Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Officer Perez (John Leguizamo) is one of the first cops to start suspecting Turk and Rooster, and the list goes on. Turk’s love interest, and ‘freaky lover’, who loves for him to role play like he is a criminal, is forensic detective Corelli (Carla Gugino). With this eruptive cast it is only a matter of time before the clock strikes and the boiling point is at hand.

If you like to be in the detective seat, Righteous Kills puts you right there. Follow along step by step as they mysteries unfold and the truth is told. Do not think that you have the story all figured out too soon though, because Avent loves to play with our heads, and that it just what he has done in Righteous Kill.
